Overview

An appraisal is inevitable. It may not be your favourite part of your role, but it’s necessary so a company can see how its staff are doing. But the appraisal is your meeting, it’s your opportunity to say how you feel about things, what you want to achieve, and how the company can help you.

This course will look at the purpose of appraisals and what happens during your appraisal. It will also look at your responsibilities, as either a manager or as a member of staff.

The learning objectives for this course are as follows:

  1. To understand what an appraisal is
  2. To understand how it’s different from other meetings
  3. To know when you should be made aware of an appraisal
  4. To know where goal setting starts
  5. To know your responsibilities as a manager
  6. To know how to apply equality to the process
  7. To understand your responsibilities as a member of staff
  8. To know what to do if you don’t agree with your outcome
  9. To know how you follow up if there are issues with a project

This course will ensure your practice is in line with the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage, The Early Years Framework and The Foundation Phase. It will also support your continuous professional development in line with the Early Years Teachers Standards.
