Description & Learning objectives

The course has been designed to allow practitioners to understand reflective practice and its benefits in an early-years setting. It will look at some of the most common reflective models and how they can be used to assist practitioners understand and overcome cognitive biases, which can impact on reflective thought. 

Finally, the course will enable staff to be able to use the reflective processes to explore turning the theory of reflective practice into concrete action for children and their families.

The learning outcomes for this course are as follows:

  • To understand what reflective practice is
  • To consider how early years practitioners can use reflection to improve their practice
  • To look at the most common cognitive biases that impact on reflective practice
  • To examine the most common reflective models
  • To explore reflective practice and action planning

This course is CPD accredited and adheres to Ofsted regulations and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
