Description & Learning objectives

This course will guide practitioners through the process of understanding professional curiosity and the domains of abuse, including possible signs and indicators. It will look at how staff must react in practice to these signs and indicators, and the importance of assertiveness when understanding abuse and neglect.

The learning outcomes for this course are as follows:

  • To understand what safeguarding is and why is it important for early years staff
  • To know the domains of abuse and how they relate to babies
  • To be aware of the signs and indicators of abuse and how they may be seen in babies
  • To understand professional curiosity and the role of professionals in safeguarding
  • To know what to do in cases of suspected safeguarding concerns
  • To understand how to work with parents and carers to improve safeguarding

This course is CPD accredited and adheres to Ofsted regulations and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
